The Canon RF 20-50mm F4L IS USM PZ is Canon's first full-frame RF lens to feature an integrated internal power zoom system, combining smooth servo zoom control for video production with direct manual zoom operation for photography. Designed for hybrid creators, filmmakers, vloggers and photographers, it delivers an ultra-wide to standard focal range in a compact, lightweight L-series design. The constant f/4 aperture maintains consistent exposure throughout the zoom range, making it ideal for professional video work and still-image capture.

Covering focal lengths from 20mm to 50mm, the lens provides greater wide-angle coverage than traditional standard zooms, making it well suited to landscapes, interiors, travel, documentary filmmaking, vlogging and handheld content creation. The internal power zoom mechanism enables smooth and precise zoom transitions during recording while maintaining a constant lens length and balance, making it ideal for gimbals and handheld rigs. Users can instantly switch between servo zoom and manual zoom operation as required.

Optically, the lens features 13 elements in 11 groups, including two aspherical elements and three UD (Ultra-low Dispersion) elements to minimise distortion and chromatic aberrations while maintaining sharpness throughout the frame. Canon's Air Sphere Coating helps reduce flare and ghosting when shooting in challenging lighting conditions.

Nano USM autofocus delivers fast, smooth and near-silent focusing performance for both video and still photography. The lens also incorporates optical image stabilisation rated up to 6 stops, increasing to approximately 8 stops when paired with compatible Canon EOS R-series cameras featuring in-body image stabilisation (IBIS). Optical suppression of focus breathing further enhances its suitability for professional video production.

With a minimum focusing distance of just 24cm and a maximum magnification of 0.33x at 50mm, the RF 20-50mm F4L IS USM PZ is capable of detailed close-up photography and near-macro shooting. Despite its advanced feature set, it weighs only approximately 420g, making it an excellent option for travel, handheld shooting and compact production setups.
