Sigma 20-60mm f/2.8-4 DG Contemporary Sony E Lens

The Sigma 20-60mm F2.8-4 DG | Contemporary Sony E Lens is a versatile full-frame standard zoom designed for Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras. Combining an expansive 20mm ultra-wide-angle perspective with a natural 60mm focal length, this compact Contemporary-series lens offers an excellent all-round solution for landscape, travel, street, architecture, interiors, portraits, everyday photography and video.

With a bright f/2.8 maximum aperture at 20mm, impressive close-focusing performance and a lightweight 375g design, the Sigma 20-60mm is ideal for photographers who want a highly portable full-frame zoom without compromising versatility.

Versatile 20-60mm Zoom Range

The 20-60mm focal range gives photographers an unusually broad perspective in a compact standard zoom. At 20mm, the lens provides a 94.5° angle of view, making it ideal for expansive landscapes, architecture, interiors, travel and creative wide-angle compositions.

Zooming towards 60mm provides a more natural perspective that works well for everyday photography, portraits, street photography and subject-focused compositions. This makes the lens particularly useful as a walkaround or travel lens where changing lenses is inconvenient.

Bright f/2.8 Aperture

At the wide end, the Sigma 20-60mm offers a bright f/2.8 maximum aperture, making it well suited to indoor photography, evening scenes and nightscapes.

The combination of 20mm wide-angle coverage and f/2.8 aperture allows photographers to capture more of the scene while maintaining useful shutter speeds and keeping ISO under control in lower-light conditions.

Impressive Close-Up Capability

The Sigma 20-60mm F2.8-4 DG Contemporary is not simply a conventional standard zoom. Its close-focusing capability makes it useful for detailed close-up photography.

The lens can focus as close as 15.8cm at 28mm, achieving a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2.3 at 35mm. It also maintains a magnification ratio of approximately 1:2.9 at 60mm, allowing close-up subjects to be photographed throughout much of the zoom range.

This makes it particularly useful for photographing flowers, food, products, details and everyday objects.

Advanced Optical Construction

Sigma uses a 15-element, 13-group optical design incorporating three SLD glass elements and three aspherical elements. These specialised elements help control optical aberrations and maintain strong image quality across the extensive 20-60mm range.

The optical design is also engineered to minimise flare and ghosting, helping produce clear and detailed images in challenging lighting conditions.

Designed for Stills and Video

The Sigma 20-60mm F2.8-4 DG Contemporary has been designed for both still photography and video. Its compact form, versatile focal range and quiet autofocus make it a practical option for hybrid photographers and content creators.

The lens is designed to minimise focus breathing, helping maintain a more consistent composition when changing focus during video recording.

Compact and Lightweight Sony E Design

Despite being a full-frame zoom with a 20mm ultra-wide starting point, the Sigma 20-60mm remains remarkably compact. The Sony E-mount version measures 72.2mm in diameter and 88.0mm in length and weighs just 375g.

Its lightweight construction makes it particularly attractive for travel photography, hiking, street photography and everyday shooting where keeping your camera bag compact is important.

9-Blade Rounded Diaphragm

The lens features a 9-blade rounded diaphragm, helping create smooth and attractive out-of-focus rendering. Combined with the close-focusing capability and useful 60mm telephoto end, this gives photographers additional creative control over background separation.
