Compared to the original, Phoenix II delivers improved contrast, tighter grain, sharper detail, and smoother highlight/shadow retention. It’s still unmistakably analogue, offering that sought-after film character, but with greater reliability and flexibility.

Whether you’re exposing at ISO 200 or pulling down to ISO 100, Phoenix II rewards careful exposure while maintaining an expressive, distinctive look.

Creative Potential

While designed for standard C41 processing, adventurous photographers may also explore E6 or ECN-2 for alternative colour palettes and tones. Scanning is easier too—Phoenix II performs well at default settings, but the final look will vary depending on your scanner and workflow.
