Used Nikon AF Nikkor 300mm f/2.8 IF ED Lens
The Nikon AF Nikkor 300mm f/2.8 IF-ED is a professional-grade telephoto prime lens renowned for its optical excellence and robust construction. Introduced in the late 1970s, it was among the first to incorporate Nikon's Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass elements, effectively minimizing chromatic aberrations and delivering sharp, high-contrast images. The lens features an internal focusing (IF) system, allowing for swift and silent focus adjustments without altering the lens's physical length, enhancing balance and handling. Its optical design comprises 8 elements in 6 groups, and it employs a 9-blade diaphragm to produce pleasing bokeh. The minimum focusing distance is approximately 4 meters, and it accepts 122mm front filters as well as 39mm rear drop-in filters. Weighing around 2.45 kg, the lens includes a built-in retractable hood and a rotating tripod collar for stability during extended shoots. While it lacks modern features like autofocus and image stabilization, its exceptional image quality and durable build make it a valuable tool for sports, wildlife, and portrait photographers who prefer manual focus precision. The lens remains compatible with Nikon's F-mount cameras, both film and digital, offering a classic telephoto experience.
